Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found hiding in a boat in a Watertown back garden on the evening of 04/19/2013.
The boat was quickly surrounded and subject to a large law enforcement response which included a vast number of local officers, several swat teams, two helicopters equipped with thermal imaging units, and snipers situated on the higher floors of neighboring homes that overlooked the boat, and so provided a good vantage point for any activity that may of emanated from it.
Despite initial statements to the contrary, authorities have since confirmed that Tsarnaev was totally unarmed whilst he was inside the boat.
Yet he was subjected to a barrage of automatic gunfire during which over two hundred rounds of ammunition were expended and aimed at his known location inside the boat, Three separate stun grenades were then deployed to that same location

Tsarnaev received life altering injuries.
As a result, the entire left side of his face is deformed and has suffered permanent paralysis. He has lost all hearing in his left ear and the vision in the left eye is so severely impaired it has lost useful vision. He will never fully recover from all of the injuries he sustained.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, unarmed, and at the point of surrender
2013 was the year of an appalling terrorist attack at the Boston marathon finish line that claimed the lives of three innocent people and injured hundreds more.
It was also the year that saw the unarmed teenager suspected of that crime hunted down and shot like a wild animal without any explanation ever being provided as to why.
Such things set a dangerous precedent so as questioners we are duty bound. We have a legitimate, important, and candid reason for inquiring further: however uncomfortable that may ultimately make us feel.
